Janamejaya said: -

1. O Lord, tell me the names of all the sons of Dhritarastra beginning from the eldest, according to the order of their births.

(They are) Duryodhana, Yuyutsa, Duhshashana, Dussaha, Dushala, Jalasandha, Vinda, Anuvinda, Durmarshana, Durmukha, DushKarna, Karna, Vivinshati, Vikarna, Shala, Satva, Suiochana, Durdharsha, Subahu, Dushpradharshana, Dumrarashana, Durmukha, DushKarna, Karna, Chitra, Upachitra, Chitraksha, Charu, Chitrangada, Dhritarastra, Durmada, Dushpraharsha, Vivitsu, Vikata, Sama, Umanabha, Padmanabha, Nanda, Senapati, Sushena, Kundodara, Chitrabahu, Chitravarmana, Durvirochana, Ayobahu, Chitrachapa, Sukundala, Upananda, Mandra, Suvarmana, Mahabahu, Anudara, Satyasandha, Ugrasena, Jarasandha, Sadahsuvak, Kshemamurti, Bhimavega, Bhimabala, Balaki, Balavardhana, Ugrayudha, Bhimashara, Kanakaya, Drindahyudha, Drindavarmana, Drindakshetra, Somakirti, Dridhasandha, Ugrashrava, Aparajita, Panditaka, Vishalaksha, Duradhara, Dridhahasta, Suhasta, Vatavega, Suvarcha, Adityaketu, Bahvashi, Nagadatta, Anuyayi, Nishangi, Kavachi, Dandi, Dandadhara, Dhanurgraha, Ugra, Bhimaratha, Virabahu, Alolupa, Abhaya, Raudrakarma, Dridharatha, Anadhrishya, Dirghalochana, Vyudhoru, Kanakadhvaja, Chitraksha. He (Dhritarastra) had also a daughter, named Dussala, above and over these one hundred sons.

16. They were all heroes and Atirathas, they were all learned in the science of war. They were all well acquainted with the Vedas and experts in using all kinds of weapons.

17. O king worthy wives were selected for them at the proper time and after due examinations by king Dhritarastra.

18. O best of the Bharata race, king Dhritarastra bestowed Dussala at the proper time and with due rites on Jayadrata.

Thus ends the hundred and seventeenth chapter, the narrating of the names of Dhritarashtra’s sons, in the Sambhava of the Adi Parva.
