Description
Brahmanda Purana as its name suggests covers the geography of the world in detail along with the creation of cosmos, division of time (such as Kalpa, Yuga, Manvantara, etc). It was first narrated by Bhagwan Brahma. Brahmanda Purana consists of two sections of which first consist of four Padas or parts:
- Prakriya Pada with 5 chapters
- Anusanga Pada with about 32 chapters
- Upodgata Pada with 74 chapters
- Upasamhara Pada with 4 chapters
Highlights of this Purana include the Adyathma Ramayana, the Nasiketopkhyana, the Pinakinimahatmya, the Virajakshetramahatmya and the Kanchimahatmya, are all found in Brahmanda Purana.
This book of Lalitopakhyana details the accounts of Bhandasura and the origins of Lalitha Parameswari (Raja Rajeswari). This part is origin of the popular Lalitha Sahasra Nama
